The technological advancement in the field of shopping has made shopping easier than ever before. The cashless revolution has stepped up the ease of shopping.
But if you believe this is the farthest humankind can reach in the field of grocery shopping, think again.
The future of grocery shopping is here, in the form of Amazon Go.
What is Amazon Go?
What do you consider an ideal store? A store where you need not to stand in line for hours or you can just pick and leave?
If yes, then Amazon Go is your dreams come true.
You can simply walk in, pick the things you like and leave. The technology is designed to detect if you have picked something out of the shelves, or kept them back, and add it to your cart accordingly. The technology is based on the one found in self driving cars, such as computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning.
Amazon says that they have been working on this project for the last 4 years. They aimed to break every possible boundary in the field of shopping.
When is it opening?
The store is going to be available for public in 2017.
The first store is situated in Seattle. It features ‘Just Walk Out’ tech and works with an app. It occupies roughly 1,800 square feet of retail space.
How does Amazon Go work?
If it features such high end technologies, it must be quite complicated to shop there. Isn’t it?
You will need an Amazon account, the free Amazon Go app, and a smartphone that supports it. That’s all.
You need to open the app and scan it at the entrance to enter the store. Now all you need to do is to keep your phone away and focus on the grocery list. You won’t like to miss something out of your list and make a second round to the store.
It boasts to use a combination of artificial intelligence, computer vision, and data pulled from multiple sensors to allow customers to only be charged for the stuff they picked up.
When you leave the store with your goods, Amazon will charge your Amazon account, and send you a receipt.
Ain’t that simple!
